- Always stay in control. You must be able to stop or avoid people or objects.
- People ahead or downhill of you have the right-of-way. You must avoid them.
- Stop only where you are visible from above and do not restrict traffic.
- Look uphill and avoid others before starting downhill or entering a trail.
- You must prevent runaway equipment.
- Read and obey all signs, warnings, and hazard markings.
- Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.
- You must know how and be able to load, ride and unload lifts safely. If you need assistance, ask the lift attendant.
- Do not use lifts or terrain when impaired by alcohol or drugs.
- If you are involved in a collision or incident, share your contact information with each other and a ski area employee.
- Winter sports involve risk of serious injury or death. Your knowledge, decisions and actions contribute to your safety and that of others.
Approved Equipment
The only approved equipment for lift service at Nashoba Valley Ski Area is skis, snowboards and snowblades with metal edges and proper retention devices(bindings) that appropriately fit. all equipment must have functioning run away prevention devices, (skis must have fully functioning brakes or leashes, snowboards must have leashes). Equipment not allowed includes but is not limited to snowskates, snowscooters, snowbikes and boots that are not intended to be used with ski or snowboard equipment.General
BACKPACKS – backpacks must be removed when riding chairlifts. Backpacks may be carried on your lap, or seat if space allows.Nashoba Valley Ski Area (NVSA) reserves the right to select the type of equipment allowed on NVSA aerial and surface lifts, and terrain. Skis and snowboards must have metal edges, proper retention and/or braking devices. Ski & snowboard Bindings must positively and securely attach ski or snowboard boots to the ski or snowboard. Sleds, tubes, snow skates, ski bikes, ski trikes, discs, toboggans, snowscooters, body sleds, airboards and others are not permitted on NVSA terrain or lifts. This list is not exhaustive and subject to change at any time. In addition, foot passengers are not allowed on lifts unless authorized by management in advance.Adaptive Equipment
Nashoba Valley Ski Area (NVSA) permits specialized equipment* to allow those with disabilities to access NVSA lifts and terrain under the following conditions:• The person using the equipment must have a qualifying disability** that requires them to utilize a special device to access lifts and slopes.• NVSA Management reserves the right to inspect the equipment and deem it to be safely operational when being loaded and unloaded on the aerial lifts, with minimum disruption to normal operations.• The equipment and person(s) operating/assisting must be able to control and stop the equipment in a safe manner. All equipment must have functioning runaway prevention devices.All adaptive equipment must have one point to connect to that balances the equipment and the passenger for evacuation purposes.* There is no express list of what type of equipment is considered specialized equipment for adaptive skiing access. Specialized equipment for adaptive skiers which meets all the conditions outlined in the Adaptive Equipment Policy will be allowed access at NVSA. Reasonable accommodations will be provided to help disabled person(s) meet the policy.** Skiers with a disability are persons meeting the definition contained in the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 as amended by the ADA Amendments Act of 2008, Section 12102, that substantially limits that person’s ability to ski or snowboard, negotiate slopes/trails or meet the general requirements to use passenger ropeways. This definition does not apply to impairments that are transitory, with an actual or expected duration of six (6) months or less.Downhill Traffic Only
Nashoba Valley Ski Area does not allow any uphill traffic of any kind with or without a lift ticket.Children Riding Lifts
Any child riding a chair lift at Nashoba Valley Ski Area must be wearing skis or a snowboard and have sufficient ability to ride the lift. They must be familiar with proper loading, riding, and unloading practices as well as etiquette. Adults Carrying or Transporting a child in a backpack or front pack on any chair lift or surface lift at Nashoba Valley Ski Area & Snow Tubing Park is prohibited.Uphill Policy
There is NO uphill traffic is permitted, including touring, hiking or snowshoeing.Animal Policy
- No dogs allowed on hill or lifts!
- Nashoba Valley does not allow animals of any kind on the snow surface or any of the lifts, conveyors or like devices. This includes Service Animals.
- Service animals are allowed in buildings
Drone Policy
For safety reasons, Nashoba Valley Ski Area & Snow Tubing Park prohibits the operation or use of unmanned aerial systems, or aerial drones, by the general public. Any change to this policy must be approved in writing prior by upper management.Spectator Policy
Uphill hikers are not permitted.- Lift and base personnel will alert ski patrol in the event of hikers starting up any trail.
- Spectators must stay outside of all fencing or ropes in place on the event venue (including b-net or event-fencing).
- Spectators must obey and follow rules and instructions of race or event officials, resort staff and/or patrol personnel.
- Dogs or other pets are not allowed on the slopes or venue areas. You must clean up after any animals who are brought on to the property.
- Sleds, dollies, outdoor cooking equipment such as grills, coolers, strollers or other equipment are not permitted on the slopes or event venue.
- Persons found in violation of this policy will be removed from the event venue and/or the resort grounds without refund.
